What Is the Get In Touch Foundation?

The Get In Touch Foundation is a non-profit that empowers people to learn more about Breast Health and stay healthy. They teach breast self-exams through the use of their Daisy Wheel. This interactive, safe, and educational tool outlines the eight steps for performing a breast self-exam.

Get In Touch has traveled to all 50 states and over 34 countries to share the message and help young women, using the Daisy Wheel to spread awareness of Breast Health.

The movement started in 2004 when Marry Ann Wasil discovered she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Her daughter, Betsy, later stepped in as the president of the foundation and has carried on her mother’s mission to save lives through breast health advocacy and education.

In 2008, the foundation rolled its first 5,000 Daisy Wheels to the public. It started a legacy of getting these educational tools in front of women worldwide.

What Is Their Mission?

The Get In Touch Foundation’s mission is to save more lives by making breast health exams a routine. They collaborate with medical professionals, host focus groups, and work with local businesses and the community to support and fund the Daisy Wheel.

The Get In Touch Foundation strives to put the Daisy Wheel in front of as many girls in the world as possible and save lives through breast health education.

Educational Resources from the Get In Touch Foundation

The Get In Touch Foundation has evolved into a digital hub for anyone to learn and access free breast health resources. They offer the Educator’s Digital Toolkit to help people learn how to perform a breast-self exam and turn it into a regular habit.

The toolkit offers a variety of resources geared toward different audiences. Whether performing a high school health class on Zoom or teaching breast health to a class of 5th graders, the toolkit offers a diverse set of materials for every occasion. There are instructional videos, discussion question reminders, quizzes, coloring sheets, and the Daisy Wheel to help girls learn about breast health.

One of the best ways to get involved is by organizing a “GIT Your Pink On!” Day for your school, office, or community, where you encourage everyone to wear pink. All you do is register for the event, wear pink and promote the day with special posters. Then you can collect donations to support the work of the Get In Touch Foundation.
