At Casely, we have two passions. The first, of course, is providing incredible high-quality phone cases. The second? Supporting equally incredible charities to continue to do their amazing work. One of the ways we aim to achieve this is via our monthly #EveryCaseCounts shoutouts. This month, we are all about To Write Love on Her Arms.

How Did ‘To Write Love On Her Arms’ Charity Get Started?

The founder of this wonderful charity had no intentions of starting a nonprofit. Jamie Tworkowski just wanted to help a friend and encourage her to tell her story. When he first met Renee Yohe, she struggled with depression, addiction, and suicidal thoughts. Jamie wrote about his experience of the five days he spent with her before she entered a treatment center, which he then posted to MySpace.

Before long, thousands had read this story, and it resonated with so many. Jamie and his friends began answering messages from people all across the globe that related to Renee's story, which inspired a common goal: to alleviate the weight of depression. They started to sell t-shirts to fund Renee's treatment, and from there, the organization took hold.

What Is Their Mission?

The primary motivation of this organization is to provide hope to those who need it most, primarily those struggling with addiction and depression. It is easy to feel entirely alone when fighting an addiction, but TWLOHA aims to reassure everyone that they are not alone and that a better day is possible. Their core values affirm the following:

They cultivate a story of love and hope with everything they do, and they achieve this by communicating with people all across the globe. Their mission has resulted in traveling over 3.8 million miles, responding to over 210,000 messages, and creating over 1,100 blog posts on their site. They've raised over three million dollars in donations for treatment and recovery programs through their efforts. That's the kind of commitment we should all admire.
