How to Clean Airpod Case Magnets the Right Way

AirPods have completely overtaken the world of earphones, and it’s no wonder why. They’re sleek, have excellent sound quality, and are small enough to carry around in your pocket. But something that we might sometimes forget to do is clean them. More specifically, clean the case and magnets within it.

If you haven’t thought of doing that before, you won’t be the only one, so don’t worry. That’s precisely why we’ve put this article together. Several cleaning methods will work, so we’ll list them here for you. Read on to learn the best ways to clean your AirPods case magnets.

Why It’s Important to Keep Your Airpod Case Magnets Clean?

You might never have considered cleaning your AirPods, the case they come in, or – in fact – the magnets that charge them, but the truth is, it’s essential that you do. First and foremost, keeping your AirPods and case clean will make sure they stay as hygienic as possible. Considering you’re putting the AirPods in your ears, they’ll naturally build up unwanted elements that will also transfer to the case and magnets.

However, another reason is to ensure the magnets can work efficiently. Keeping them clean will extend the battery life, help protect against harmful bacteria building up, and ensure they’re performing at their best.

How to Clean Airpod Case Magnets

Compressed Air

If you can access it, using compressed air to clean the magnets within your AirPod case is a very efficient method. The power of the air moving at such speeds can effectively dislodge any debris and dust that might have found its way onto the magnets. It’s also a very quick method.

Q-Tips

If you haven’t got compressed air to hand, grab some Q-tips (who knew they had so many uses?). These handy items are very good at getting the job done – even if it will take a little longer.

One thing to remember when cleaning the magnets with Q-tips is not to use any liquid or alcohol. Doing so runs the risk of damaging the magnets. That said, when cleaning the rest of the case, liquid and alcohol can be very effective cleaning tools.

Soft-Bristled Brush

The final method we suggest trying out is to use a soft-bristled brush. To get in all the nooks and crannies, you’ll need to get a small, thin brush. This brush could be a (clean) make-up or paint brush or something designed specifically for cleaning small spaces.

Insert the brush into the case to the magnets and gently brush away at the area. Doing so should dislodge debris, dust, hair, or other unwanted materials. Remember, there’s no need to be rough when doing this because the soft bristles should be able to do their job without force, and you don’t want to risk damaging the magnets.

Again, don’t use liquid or alcohol, as this runs the risk of damaging your magnets.
